INSUFFICIENT NUTRIENTS IN VEGAN FOOD?
NOT WITH US!
It is impossible to cover all essential nutrients in a plant-based diet! A plant-based diet leads to symptoms of malnutrition and an unhealthy lifestyle! These or similar statements are often made in the context of plant-based products, leading most people to believe that a diet purely based on plant foods is impossible without an additional intake of vitamin or nutritional supplements.
That a primarily plant-based diet strongly supports the United Nations‘ Sustainable Development Goals is widely known; the carbon footprint of plant-based products has been shown to be lower than animal-based foods, and reduced consumption of meat and dairy products relieves pressure on feed production and frees up cropland for direct food crops. Nevertheless, many still shy away including plant-based alternatives in their diet. This is to blame on the belief that vegan products, compared to the animal-based original, do not provide reliable sources of nutrients to ideally nourish the body.
The reason for this is that low-cost protein isolates are often used as ingredients for plant-based products. They are denatured and therefore have no functionality. Any nutrients contained in the starting raw material are lost during production. This results in products that can be used just like the animal original but do not offer the same nutritional effects. Therefore, the complete abandonment of animal products in favor of such alternatives actually necessitates the additional intake of some minerals and vitamins in the form of dietary supplements.
Plant-based products must allow for uncomplicated, nutrient-rich, and wholesome diets in order to be useful substitutes for animal foods.
What many people do not realize is that almonds can have numerous positive effects on health. Besides the high content of unsaturated fatty acids, they contain important minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Also iron and vitamin B2, or riboflavin, which is responsible for numerous reactions of energy metabolism in the body, make the almond an indispensable part of a wholesome and healthy diet.
Studies show that taking just a handful of almonds a day can lower cholesterol levels and improve the blood flow, thus preventing heart disease. Better control of blood glucose levels has also been demonstrated in people with type 2 diabetes through the daily intake of almonds. In addition, it improves gut health, which plays an important role in maintaining a stable immune system and preventing chronic diseases.
Despite their high fat content, the daily intake of almonds does not lead to weight gain. On the contrary, while body weight remained the same, a reduction in body fat percentage and thus an improved body composition was observed. Almonds help maintain a healthy body weight.
The cold processed finely ground almond protein preserves the functionality of the almond. It is an ideal ingredient for products that should contribute to a balanced and healthy plant-based diet, that prevents nutrient deficiencies.
